BIOGRAPHY

Jacob Abel is a Norwegian bass. For the last two years, Jacob Abel has taken part in the young artists programme of the Norwegian National Opera, where he debuted roles such as Colline (La Bohème) and Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia). He graduated from the opera academy in Oslo in 2020.

In the 2022-23 season, he performs the role of Montano in Verdi’s Otello at Oscarsborg Opera, and Angelotti in Puccini’s Tosca at Norwegian National Opera. In concert he performs, among others, Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème and Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with the Arctic Philharmonic, and Mozart arias (Figaro, Leporello and Sarastro) at Bergen National Opera.

In previous seasons, Jacob Abel has performed the roles of Zuniga in Carmen, Rychtář in Jenůfa, Mars in Orphée aux enfers, Colline in La Bohème, Simone in Gianni Schicchi, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, all between 2020 and 2022 at Norwegian National Opera. Previously at the opera academy, he sang Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte on tour in Norway, Pistola in Falstaff, Plutone in Monteverdi’s Il ballo delle ingrate and the role of Jimmy in Mahagonny.

In concert, he has sung Mozart’s Requiem with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle.
